If you are tempted by one of the brand new iPads, you are probably wondering about the benefits of purchasing an official keyboard or Apple Pencil. Well, we’re here to tell you it’s a terrible idea – you should buy cheaper versions of Logitech instead.
Apple has finally unveiled a new iPad (10th generation) and two M2 iPad Pro tablets, and with them Apple has also introduced the brand new Magic Keyboard. This stand-plus hybrid keyboard makes it easy to use your iPad like a laptop, but comes at a fairly high price. In addition to the price of an Apple tablet, you’ll have to pay $ 249, 299 or $ 349 / £ 279, £ 319 or £ 379 / $ 399, $ 489 or $ 579 for a compatible keyboard for iPad (10th generation), iPad Pro (11-inch, M2 ) or iPad Pro (12.9-inch M2).
Luckily for those of you who appreciate the convenience of using a keyboard and case to protect your shiny new iPad, there’s a great solution that isn’t as busting. Logitech makes its own iPad-compatible accessories that do exactly the same, for a fraction of the cost.
Now in the official Apple store can be found Logitech Combo Touch Keyboard case with trackpad (opens in a new tab) for the new iPad Pro. While still not the cheapest accessory in the world, you’ll only pay $ 199.95 or $ 229.95 / £ 219.95 or £ 239.95 / AU $ 299.95 or AU 349.95 for the 11-inch and 12.9 inches respectively -inch options.
Additionally, you can head to your own Logitech store and buy it Combo Touch for iPad (10th generation) (opens in a new tab) for $ 160 / £ 160 / $ 270. If you’re happy to ditch the iPad (10th generation) trackpad, you can alternatively choose Logitech Slim Folio keyboard case (opens in a new tab) ($ 100 / £ 90 / AU 160) or Durable Folio keyboard case (opens in a new tab) ($ 140 / £ 130 / AU $ 230).
Logitech is not only a case, but also its own Apple Pencil. The Logitech crayon (opens in a new tab) (which is a great name by the way) promises to deliver pixel-precise drawing on any iPad with a USB-C connection, and even uses the same technology as an actual Apple Pencil. If you want to pick up this digital stylus you’ll pay $ 69.95 / £ 69.95 / $ 130.
Logitech’s extras aren’t a must for every iPad owner – some people don’t need a fancy stylus or keyboard, they just want a simple-to-use tablet – but if you’re planning to buy an official iPad keyboard case or Apple Pencil, then we seriously suggest that you buy one of these instead products.
Sure, these accessories aren’t manufactured by Apple, but considering they’re sold in the Apple Store, they’re as official as third-party add-ons can get.
