FIFA 23 may be the best soccer game for obnoxious sports fans as it allows you to turn off comments that criticize your bad game.
Now that FIFA 23 Early Access is over, EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can jump into the game before its full launch. But as Eurogamer (opens in a new tab) noticed, they will find a peculiar option on them.
FIFA 23 includes a toggle to turn off Critical Comment. This setting allows you to mute all negative in-game comments about your technique, so you can protect your precious ego even if you miss an open goal or commit an obvious foul. This does not affect a more positive comment.
Spare your feelings
This feature is suitable for kids and newcomers who don’t want to lose their confidence within minutes of picking up a controller. But even experienced players who happen to be terrible in the game can benefit from it.
However, it is not perfect. According to Eurogamer, this feature did not work during a FIFA Ultimate Team Division Rivals match and critical comments were slipping through the filter. But who hasn’t used light grilling from time to time?
The polite comment is not the only new addition to FIFA 23. This is the first game in the series to feature female club soccer teams and fancy reworked animations that use next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X | S hardware. EA hopes it will end up high as FIFA 23 will be the last of its soccer games to be released with an official FIFA license.
If turning off critical comment doesn’t improve your soccer skills, maybe building a Marvel superhero squad will do. Though you might not do much better with Ted Lasso roaming the pitch.
FIFA 23 will be fully released this Friday, September 30.
